Basketball Preview: Altoona-Midway Jets vs. Southern Coffey County Titans

The Altoona-Midway Jets will head out on the road to square off against the Southern Coffey County Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Altoona-Midway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.

Even though Altoona-Midway has not done well against the Vikings recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Altoona-Midway managed a 40-35 win over the Vikings. The score was all tied up 11-11 at the break, but Altoona-Midway was the better team in the second half.

William Stackhouse was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with four blocks and two steals. Stackhouse is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jacob Meigs was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-22, which was the final score in Southern Coffey County's tilt against the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southern Coffey County in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

The win makes it two in a row for Altoona-Midway and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Southern Coffey County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13-1.

Everything came up roses for Altoona-Midway against the Titans when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Altoona-Midway since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
