Basketball Recap: Pawhuska Extends Winning Streak to Five

Pawhuska waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They strolled past the Newkirk Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 48-30. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Tigers are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pawhuska was led to victory by Hannah Reynolds and Brooklyn Miles. Reynolds went 8 for 17 on her way to 20 points and eight steals, while Miles went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Miles is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emillie Curry, who posted six points along with five boards and three steals.

Pawhuska's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Newkirk, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Pawhuska is taking a road trip to challenge Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newkirk, they will welcome Alva at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
