Football Recap: Houston County Comes Up Short

Houston County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 48-6 defeat at the hands of the Abbeville Yellowjackets. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Houston County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Abbeville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Looking ahead, Houston County will head out on the road to square off against Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators' defense has only allowed 11.4 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Abbeville, they will take on Barbour County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 48.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
