Baseball Recap: West Bend East Suns vs. Hartford Orioles

West Bend East had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it eight. They fell 4-1 to the Hartford Orioles. If the Suns were looking for revenge after losing 12-4 to the Orioles when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

West Bend East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Sommer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Hartford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.

On Hartford's side, Joe Landgraf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. Landgraf has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brady Helms was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Looking ahead, West Bend East will be playing at home against Port Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hartford, they will square off against Slinger at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Owls will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Orioles surely won't give up without a fight.
