Baseball Recap: Rowland Comes Up Short

Rowland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Wilson on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Rowland got a good showing from Gabriel Delgado, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Delgado has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Adrian Cortes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeshua Hennerty, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one double.

Rowland's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Wilson, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

Rowland and Wilson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Raiders will challenge Northview at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (830 vs. 232). Meanwhile, Wilson (ranked 828th) will meet West Covina (ranked 399th) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
