Volleyball Recap: West Franklin Takes a Loss

West Franklin was the 2-1 winner over Wabaunsee when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers on Tuesday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-22.

Zoe Dowd paced West Franklin's offense, picking up eight kills. Dowd got some help from Greelie McMahan and her 11 assists.

Leading Wabaunsee to victory were Kinsley Michaelis and Peyton Wegele. Michaelis had 14 assists and eight digs, while Wegele had eight digs. Grace Zeller also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

West Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Wabaunsee, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Chargers beat West Franklin by a score of 2-0 later that day.
