Basketball Recap: Central Jaguars vs. Paxton Bobcats
It was a proper cat-fight when Central challenged Paxton on Friday. The Central Jaguars fell 57-45 to the Paxton Bobcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-38 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Autumn Boutwell, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 25 points and three steals. Boutwell's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Lakin Mathews was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.
Paxton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenzie Lassiter led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Cook, who posted ten points.
Central's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Paxton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
