The Emmanuel Christian Crusaders will head out on the road to take on the King's Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Emmanuel Christian had to kick off their season on the road last Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against South Pointe Christian by a score of 19-14. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Even though King's Academy couldn't quite topple Marlboro Academy on Thursday, it was still a huge improvement compared to the seven-point defeat they took when the two last played. Everything went King's Academy's way against Marlboro Academy as King's Academy made off with a 12-5 victory. The win was just what King's Academy needed coming off of a 13-6 loss in their prior game.
Lucas Fields was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Fields was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.
In other pitching news, Owen Defee looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Kip Perkins was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Will Turner was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
