Basketball Recap: Lincoln North Star Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lincoln North Star waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Burke Bulldogs by a score of 57-48. Given the Navigators' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lincoln North Star's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Schafer, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Castor, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points.

Despite the loss, Burke still got an impressive performance from Jay Svoboda, who shot 43% from the field en route to 16 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Svoboda a new career-high in points. Michael White was another key player, putting up ten points.

Lincoln North Star pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Burke, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Lincoln North Star has already played their next game, a 68-47 victory against Kearney on the 3rd. Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
