Basketball Game Preview: Mason Comets vs. Anthony Wayne Generals

The Mason Comets will square off against the Anthony Wayne Generals at 5:20 p.m. on Sunday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Anthony Wayne will be up against a hot Mason team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 14. Mason simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Fairfield 61-30. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Indians are ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mason's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Anna Habra, who went 8 of 10 on her way to 18 points and four steals, and Madison Parrish, who went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points and four steals. The matchup was Parrish's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adaia Kesler, who posted four points.

Mason smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne entered their tilt with Green on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took their game with ease, bagging a 68-38 victory over the Bulldogs.

Mason's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Anthony Wayne, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
