Recap: Castle View Sabercats vs. Pomona Panthers
The Castle View Sabercats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 75-59 win over Pomona. Given Castle View's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Pomona is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Castle View to victory were Mason Orton and Evan Mckean. Orton went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 0 assists, while Mckean scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Mckean's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Graham, who scored ten points.
Pomona's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua James, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds, and Dj Hawkins who scored 21 points. The game was James' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabe Aranda, who scored six points.
Castle View's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Pomona, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Castle View and Westminster will face off at 2:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
