Softball Game Preview: Palmetto Tigers vs. Sarasota Sailors

The Palmetto Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Sarasota Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Palmetto duked it out with Inspiration Academy on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against the Lions, falling 11-1. The Tigers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

LeiLani Cruz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Sarasota let Lakewood Ranch stack six runs on them in the fifth inning on Tuesday but luckily Sarasota prevailed anyway. The Sailors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Sailors in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won six in a row.

Sarasota got a massive performance out of Gianna Williams, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Williams has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sommer Speers, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Sarasota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood Ranch only posted an OBP of .417.

Sarasota's record now sits at 17-6. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Palmetto might still be hurting after the 21-3 loss they got from Sarasota in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
