Mount Tahoma gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Spanaway Lake Sentinels. The win was some much needed relief for the T-Birds as it spelled an end to their 13-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Jacob Kerwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Kerwood was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Roll, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Bookout, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Spanaway Lake's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Mount Tahoma will be playing in front of their home fans against Capital at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Spanaway Lake will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Olympia at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th.
