Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lili Fang and Aarushi Javia Lead BASIS Phoenix to Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only BASIS Phoenix walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Heritage Academy Heroes 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Firebirds have posted since September 13, 2024.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as three sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The final score came out to 28-26, 24-26, 26-24, 22-25, 15-11.

BASIS Phoenix was led to victory by Aarushi Javia and Lili Fang. Javia had 18 digs and two aces, while Fang had 20 digs, 17 kills, and two aces. Fang is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Josie Ventura also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: BASIS Phoenix was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive matchups.

BASIS Phoenix's record now sits at 11-4. As for Heritage Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, BASIS Phoenix will face off against Heritage Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Heroes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
