Softball Recap: New Hartford Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

New Hartford was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Proctor on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Raiders a 19-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.

Ruby Gehringer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Mungari, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Amelia Nimey was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

New Hartford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive matches.

New Hartford pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Proctor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
