Basketball Game Preview: Port Allen Pelicans vs. Capitol Lions

The Port Allen Pelicans will venture away from home to take on the Capitol Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Port Allen has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Capitol will come in with four straight victories.

Port Allen is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against University Lab on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Port Allen lost 79-59 to University Lab. While losing is never fun, the Pelicans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Cubs are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, Capitol was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Belaire 66-29. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Port Allen's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Capitol, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.

Port Allen didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Capitol when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 43-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Allen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
