Volleyball Recap: Lewis Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Braylyn Coats and Jacey Young

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Lewis Central couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Lewis Central took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-16, 21-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Jacey Young and Braylyn Coats certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Young had 18 digs and four aces, while Coats had nine digs. Young has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Zaloudek, who had eight digs.

Lewis Central's loss dropped their record down to 25-11. As for Sergeant Bluff-Luton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Lewis Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sergeant Bluff-Luton, they will challenge Clear Creek-Amana at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
