Softball Recap: Interlake Triumphs

Interlake's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the Highline Pirates. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Albany Aponte (2027) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, Madeline Knight (2028) was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases and five runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Grace Martinez (2029) was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Interlake's record is now 10-4. As for Highline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Interlake will challenge Cedarcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Wolves have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Highline, they will square off against Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
