Baseball Game Preview: Elsinore Tigers vs. St. Anthony Saints

The Elsinore Tigers will challenge the St. Anthony Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Elsinore sitting on seven straight wins and St. Anthony on 12.

Elsinore is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Camarillo get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Brayden Stankus's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

At the plate, Elsinore saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Gates, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday St. Anthony sidestepped Northwood for a 6-5 win.

John Arnold was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Cassidy, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Anthony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

St. Anthony pushed their record up to 21-8 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Elsinore, their record now sits at 22-7.

Elsinore was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Anthony in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
