Basketball Recap: Davis Triumphs

Davis proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 33) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-66 victory over the Lake Stevens Vikings. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Vikings are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davis' win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Lake Stevens, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eastmont at 6:00 p.m. on January 11, 2025. Lake Stevens and Lakewood will round out the year against one another at at 1:15 p.m. on Monday. Lakewood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Lake Stevens likes a good challenge.
