The Dighton Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took down Wheatland-Grinnell 61-47. Dighton pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Wheatland-Grinnell cut but never quite recovered from.

Dighton found their leader in underclassman Lani Speer, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Speer has scored all season. Kenzie Zimmerman was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.

Wheatland-Grinnell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aliviah Ball, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Karoline Schroeder, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Dighton and bumps their season record up to 7-12. As for Wheatland-Grinnell, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dighton will face off against Rawlins County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rawlins County will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Dighton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wheatland-Grinnell, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Decatur Community on February 13th. Hopefully Decatur Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Tuesday.
