Preview: Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers vs. Travelers Rest Devildogs
Blue Ridge is 9-1 against Travelers Rest since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Travelers Rest Devildogs at 6:00 p.m. Blue Ridge will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Blue Ridge stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 70-23 win over Chapman. Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Chapman is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anyah Henderson out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists. Henderson hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Josie Harkins was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Travelers Rest came up short against Woodmont on Thursday and fell 39-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Travelers Rest in their matchups with Woodmont: they've now lost three in a row.
Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Travelers Rest, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Blue Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Travelers Rest in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 47-38. Will Blue Ridge repeat their success, or does Travelers Rest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
