Basketball Recap: Pershing County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pershing County hadn't done well against North Tahoe recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pershing County Mustangs walked away with a 61-53 win over the North Tahoe Lakers. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Lakers back in January, they had to take a 65-61 loss.

Pershing County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trenton Rhodes out in front who posted 18 points and five steals. Rhodes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Travis Donaldson was another key player, putting up 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, North Tahoe still got an impressive performance from Seth Hendricks, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 boards. With that strong performance, Hendricks is now averaging an impressive 8.4 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cormac Springsteel, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

The win (which was Pershing County's third in a row) raised their record to 12-13. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for North Tahoe, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7.

Pershing County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-32 victory against Oasis Academy on the 4th. North Tahoe has also already played their next match, a 62-53 win against Yerington on the 1st.
