Recap: Port Clinton Redskins vs. Canton South Wildcats
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Port Clinton Redskins ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over Canton South. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Port Clinton.
Despite the loss, Canton South still got an impressive performance from Summer Hastings-Peterson, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Hastings-Peterson scored a full 45.8% of Canton South's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Doriana Hastings-Peterson, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Port Clinton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Canton South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Clinton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oak Harbor at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Oak Harbor's defense has only allowed 23.4 points per game this season, so Port Clinton's offense will have their work cut out for Port Clinton. Canton South will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Fairless at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Fairless is ranked 336th, while Canton South is ranked 311th).
