Arlington and Bowie are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Colts will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Volunteers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Arlington took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Sam Houston with a sharp 38-16 victory. The win continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Texans: they've now won five in a row.
Arlington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Christian Moore, who rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, and Coleman Cravens, who threw for 200 yards and three TDs. That's the most passing touchdowns Cravens has posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Bowie hadn't done well against Martin recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Volunteers walked away with a 56-43 victory over the Warriors.
Arlington better keep an eye on Jayden Bibbs. He was instrumental in Bowie's win, throwing for 328 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 95 yards. Keidric Osunde-Brown was Bibbs' top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bowie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 84.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 190.3.
Bowie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Princeton Campbell led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Arlington's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Bowie, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Arlington has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 215.4 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Bowie has preferred to attack from the air: they average 350.2 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
