Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Gators vs. Archbishop Hoban Knights

The Laurel Gators will head out on the road to take on the Archbishop Hoban Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Laurel is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Cathedral Prep on Sunday. Laurel came out on top against Cathedral Prep by a score of 61-48. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gators as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Hoban waltzed into their game on Saturday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They blew past the Rams 60-35. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Archbishop Hoban pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Laurel, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-9.

Laurel skirted past Archbishop Hoban 42-40 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laurel since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
