Preview: Northwestern Tigers vs. Elk Mound Mounders
The Northwestern Tigers will be playing at home against the Elk Mound Mounders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northwestern's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Northwestern at home against Bloomer as the team secured a 56-8 victory. The result was nothing new for Northwestern, who have now won six matchups by 30 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Cooper Lawton, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Lawton was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Meanwhile, Elk Mound earned a 13-6 win over Neillsville/Granton on Thursday.
Northwestern has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in eight of their first nine matches, giving them a 8-1 record. As for Elk Mound, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
