Basketball Game Preview: Riverton Hawks vs. Williamsville Bullets

Riverton is 1-9 against Williamsville since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Riverton Hawks will head out to challenge the Williamsville Bullets at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Riverton is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Monday. They lost 53-33 to Olympia.

Despite the loss, Riverton had strong showings from Jordyn Durham, who posted seven points and 11 boards, and Britnee Walker, who put up nine points. The dominant performance also gave Durham a new career-high in assists (three).

Even though they lost, Riverton was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 59 points the game before, Williamsville was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They came up short against Maroa-Forsyth, falling 40-14. While losing is never fun, the Bullets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Trojans are ranked 108th).

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Williamsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Riverton couldn't quite finish off Williamsville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 38-36. Can Riverton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
