Football Recap: Selah Comes Up Short

If Selah was riding high fresh off their 40-0 takedown of Grandview last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings were dealt a 42-13 loss at the hands of the East Valley Red Devils on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Red Devils are ranked 25th).

East Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cody Gasseling out in front who rushed for 129 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Gasseling a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Albrecht, who rushed for 130 yards and one score.

Selah's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for East Valley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Selah will take on rival Ephrata at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
