Softball Recap: Woodland Regional Hawks vs. Sheehan Titans

Woodland Regional had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Sheehan Titans on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. Considering Woodland Regional has won 19 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella VanAlstyne was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). VanAlstyne has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. VanAlstyne was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Rowley, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ayla DeCrescenzo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and a double.
