Softball Recap: Chico Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Chico Dragons came up short against the Gainesville Leopards and fell 9-4. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addyson Sides spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Lexi Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Chico's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Gainesville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Chico will challenge Saint Jo at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Chico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Gainesville, they will square off against Fort Worth THESA at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
