Soccer Game Preview: Bishop Amat vs. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy

The Bishop Amat Lancers will challenge the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Amat will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Bishop Amat made easy work of Cajon and carried off a 4-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won six matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Cajon with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Angelo Cusaro (2), Sebastian Saucedo, and Eduardo Jr Moreno.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy was not quite Downey's equal in the second half last Saturday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bishop Amat's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those nine games. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3-2.

Bishop Amat took their win against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2016 by a conclusive 4-1. Will Bishop Amat repeat their success, or does St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
