Watauga extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Kate Sears. The Watauga Pioneers put the hurt on the South Caldwell Spartans with a sharp 72-48 victory on Friday thanks in part to Sears, who dropped a double-double with 31 points and ten assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Watauga's points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Matheson, who posted nine points and five rebounds. What's more, she also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024.
Kristin Barber and Ava Anderson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Barber earned 20 points, while Anderson scored 19 points. Anderson's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Holland Weisner was another key player, putting up seven points.
Watauga pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points over those games. As for South Caldwell, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-8.
