Game recap: Neshannock High School Football Team takes down Monessen

MONESSEN, Pa. - Neshannock (New Castle, Pa.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Ernie Burkes ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining, bringing the team to victory over Monessen (Pa.) 24-21.

The Greyhounds pulled ahead on a Clintell Gillaspie touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 7-3. The Lancers scored the winning points with a Burkes touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.

Despite scoring seven points in the third, Neshannock still trailed by 4 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped NHS pull out the victory.

Monessen's Gillaspie played well. The sophomore ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown.

The New Castle school's most effective player was Burkes. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
