Columbus Grove had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down the Jefferson Wildcats 68-52. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Wildcats are ranked 491st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbus Grove's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus Grove won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Miller City at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jefferson, they and Elida will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
