Albuquerque won the last time they faced Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. Albuquerque blew past Valley 12-1. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Raquel Waldrop made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Annika Stanley was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Albuquerque always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .333.
The win made it two in a row for Albuquerque and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Valley, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-7.
Coming up, Albuquerque will head out to face off against West Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give Albuquerque their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Valley, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-4 defeat against St. Michael's on the 29th.
