Football Game Preview: Ridge Community Bolts vs. Haines City Hornets

Ridge Community is 0-5 against Haines City since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bolts will take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ridge Community is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Winter Haven a 25-0 shutout.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridge Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antinayah Sims, who rushed for 104 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Sims a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Abegael Benoit was in the mix as well, providing Ridge Community with two scores.

Ridge Community didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Soriah Sone, Jasmine McCray, and Sameeyah Cooper picked up one apiece. Sone is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, Haines City strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 39-19 margin over George Jenkins. Haines City's victory was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 8.5 points allowed on the season.

Haines City's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 27.5 points thus far. As for Ridge Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Ridge Community, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 25-7 loss to Haines City when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bolts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
