Gilmer piles up the points against Center

Recap: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Center Roughriders

With a playoff game on the line, the Gilmer Buckeyes rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Center 69-42 at home. The result was nothing new for Gilmer, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Gilmer had a senior duo take command as Will Henderson gained 277 total yards and five touchdowns and Dhrvay Smith rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Henderson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadon Tennison, who threw for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Center's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Emonte Cross, who threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kaden Dixon, who rushed for 190 yards.

The win was the fifth in a row for Gilmer, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Center, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Gilmer will face off against Sunnyvale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyvale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 274 points over their last five games. Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
