Soccer Game Preview: Greer Middle College vs. Broome

The Greer Middle College Blazers will head out to square off against the Broome Centurions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Broome will be up against a hot Greer Middle College squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Blazers' defense stepped up to hand Union County a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Greer Middle College's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Union County are ranked 201st).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Broome made sure to put some goals up on the board against Union County on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Yellowjackets. Broome haven't had any issues with Union County recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Addison Smith, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Broome squad sat out for Friday's contest. With Smith sidelined, Broome had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Dahlia Hassan, Chelsey Delgado, and Lisa Lyles. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Hassan put up one assist, while she scored a goal.

Greer Middle College's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Broome, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Everything went Greer Middle College's way against Broome when the teams last played back in March, as Greer Middle College made off with a 5-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blazers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
