Basketball Recap: Laila Downs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcewen over Moore County

McEwen has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Moore County Raiders on Saturday, falling 57-37. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

McEwen's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laila Downs, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Downs is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shana Bohanon, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

McEwen's loss dropped their record down to 26-6. As for Moore County, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

McEwen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Moore County, they will be playing at home against Coalfield on Wednesday. Coalfield will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Moore County surely won't give up without a fight.
