Softball Game Preview: Alcorn Central Bears vs. Belmont Cardinals

Alcorn Central and Belmont are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Alcorn Central Bears will be playing at home against the Belmont Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Alcorn Central sidestepped Belmont for a 5-4 victory.

Sydnee Norman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Lexie Dixon was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Wilburn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Alcorn Central's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Belmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
