Baseball Game Preview: Luther Lions vs. Little Axe Indians

The Luther Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Little Axe Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Luther will be strutting in after a win while Little Axe will be coming in after a defeat.

Luther took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Davenport, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Luther saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aden Henke, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave Henke a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Little Axe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Konawa, falling 11-3.

Lane Foreman was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Gene Curnett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win got Luther back to even at 11-11. As for Little Axe, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Everything went Luther's way against Little Axe in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Luther made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
