Baseball Recap: Mattoon Takes a Loss

Mattoon managed to slip by Mt. Zion the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Greenwave lost 8-0 to the Braves on Saturday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Greenwave were not able to get on the board.

Mattoon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madden Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Mattoon has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Mt. Zion, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mattoon will face off against Teutopolis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Zion, they will head out to take on Monticello at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
