Softball Game Preview: Peninsula Panthers vs. San Pedro Pirates

The Peninsula Panthers will challenge the San Pedro Pirates at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Peninsula has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Peninsula saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of El Toro by a score of 3-2.

Emily Gonzalez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Pedro). They walked away with a 7-4 win over Palos Verdes on Friday.

San Pedro has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Peninsula's loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Peninsula couldn't quite finish off San Pedro when the teams last played back in March of 2019 and fell 4-2. Can Peninsula avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
