Softball Game Preview: Sharpstown Apollos vs. Waltrip Rams

Sharpstown hasn't had much luck against Waltrip recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Sharpstown will be playing in front of their home fans against Waltrip at 6:00 p.m. Sharpstown has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Sharpstown's offense. They came up short against Spring Woods on Friday, falling 17-0. The Apollos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Waltrip put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Spring Woods a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Rams have won ten games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Ariana Molina, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Savanna Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Waltrip was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Woods only posted a batting average of .250.

Waltrip's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sharpstown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
