Baseball Recap: Temecula Valley Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Trabuco Hills, Temecula Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Summerville Bears get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Bears considering their two-run performance the match before.

Chase Hilt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Eric Shim was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. Stafford Johnson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Temecula Valley back to even at 1-1. As for Summerville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season.

Temecula Valley and Summerville's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Temecula Valley will challenge Yucaipa at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, a team that's only allowed four runs per game. Similarly, Summerville and Woodbridge (who has only given up 2.4 runs per game) will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
