Preview: South Lake Eagles vs. Mount Dora Hurricanes
The South Lake Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Mount Dora Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
South Lake posted their biggest win since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on East Ridge with a sharp 63-38 victory. Given South Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while East Ridge is ranked 639th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alijah Curry, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Clark, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Jordan Christian Prep 58-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Mount Dora has suffered since December 4, 2023.
South Lake's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Mount Dora, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-14.
Everything came up roses for South Lake against Mount Dora when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 57-26 win. Does South Lake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mount Dora turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
