The Southview Cougars will face off against the Bowsher BlueRacers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Southview fell victim to Clay and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Bowsher waltzed into their game on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kyle Schropp made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Bowsher got a massive performance out of Donovan McClellan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. McClellan has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Nate Reynolds was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Bowsher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Bowsher pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Southview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Southview took their win against Bowsher in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the BlueRacers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
