Basketball Recap: Perry County Takes a Loss

Perry County lost against Wayne County on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Perry County Vikings were beaten by the Wayne County Wildcats 67-37. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 36th).

Perry County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylee Byrd, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Thornton, who scored five points and three steals.

Perry County's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Wayne County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.

Perry County has already played their next game, a 58-54 defeat against Houston County on the 28th. As for Wayne County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-23 victory against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central on the 28th.
