Baseball Game Preview: Discovery Spartans vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks

Discovery is 0-5 against Santa Fe Catholic since February of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans will square off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Discovery is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Discovery came up short against IMG Academy Teal and fell 8-3.

Jose Quintero made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Santa Fe Catholic's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland Christian on Wednesday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Santa Fe Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alejandro Montenegro, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Discovery's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Santa Fe Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Discovery suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Santa Fe Catholic when the teams last played back in March. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
